Cleopatra zu Oettingen-Spielberg was born as the daughter of a German-Swiss father and a Chilean mother in Bern, Switzerland. She grew up in Santiago de Chile until the age of 11. Her school education took place in Spain, Germany and England. She speaks fluent Spanish, German, English and French.
